This cartridge contains the ink and the drum unit. Changing the toner cartridge is very simple, but it is not as simple as you think. First, you must remove the drum unit and the toner cartridge from the Brother printer.
After removing the drum unit, you need to remove the toner cartridge from it. You can also do it by unscrewing the green cover at the back of the cartridge. You will have to turn the lever counter-clockwise until you find the "home" position. Then, lift the unit from the printer. This process should only take a few minutes. Alternatively, you can contact Brother customer service.
You will have to unplug the toner cartridge from the drum unit. Then, you need to open the front cover of the printer. After doing this, the printer will ask you to change the drum or toner cartridge. Press the up or down buttons, and then press OK. When the 00 appears on the screen, the user should remove the used cartridge. After removing the old cartridge, close the front cover. Then, slide the tab on the drum unit from left to right, clean it, and then return the unit to its home position.
To replace the toner cartridge, you must power on the printer. If you are not able to power on the printer, the machine will not detect the replacement. Once the printer is powered on, unlock the front cover and take out the current toner cartridge and drum unit assembly. Once you have removed the old cartridge, remove the protective cover and press the reset button on the toner cartridge. Afterwards, repeat steps two through five.
Next, unlock the front cover of the printer and remove the toner cartridge. Then, remove the protective orange cover on the toner cartridge. Once you have removed the old toner cartridge, the printer will prompt you to perform a test print. If you do not see this, then you need to repeat the process. It is very important to ensure that you turn the printer off before replacing the toner cartridge.
Once you have removed the old toner cartridge, turn the toner cartridge counterclockwise to insert the new toner cartridge. You should then turn the toner dial back to its original position. When you have removed the old toner, you must then insert the new toner cartridge. Then, press the green lock lever again to unlock the toner cartridge. When it is in the correct position, the printer should recognize the toner cartridge. If it does not, check the instructions in the manual or refer to the manufacturer's website.
